What factors put teen drivers at risk?

Fatal teen crashes are happening by the thousands partly due to risky driving behaviors such as drinking and driving.

• First Step: Do the research and find out what other risks are equally as dangerous or more, how aware teens are of these risks, and what could be done to prevent the behavior.

  • Highway safety issues presented by the Governors Highway Safety Association
  • Students Against Destructive Decisions and other safety issues
  • Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk Public Safety Announcements
• Third Step: Get Creative. What do you want the final product you present to the class to be?

Hint: Most teens know drinking and driving is risky. It is!! Help them to understand that just as "friends don't let friends drive drunk," friends also help their friends avoid other hazards while driving.
