Teens Want to Be “Normal”

Information educators choose to put in front of teens can either focus on what can go wrong (drug dependency, teen pregnancy, car crashes) or what most teens are doing right (staying away from drugs, learning to drive safely, staying in school). Communication that emphasizes the truth about how most "normal" teens behave is the basis of most social marketing campaigns.

Some of the most successful social marketing campaigns conducted include the Pink Ribbon Campaign and Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk: Designated Driver Campaign. Teens want to know they are like most of us, that they are normal.
