Enhance Their Education
Enhancing Education To Keep Teens Safe On The RoadWe’ve turned this website into instructional materials to use when working with parents in worksite, community or school settings. “Enhancing Education To Keep Teens Safe On The Road” is a suite of research-based educational resources designed to help you address the leading public health threat to teens – car crashes. Crashes with teens behind the wheel kill more teens (ages 15 to 19) than cancer, homicide and suicide combined. These free, downloadable instructional materials not only meet National Health Education Standards and the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Healthy People 2020 objectives related to teen driving, but also give you the opportunity to conduct evidence-based learning events for parents in professional or community settings. Whether you’re a health educator, human resources or programming coordinator, or community leader, use of these comprehensive training materials will ensure parents are exposed to the latest research, tools, and actionable tips to help teens stay safe through the learning to drive process. We recommend using all five comprehensive modules, but each skill-based module can also be given individually. Here’s the recommended order for presenting the modules, with each module building upon the skills learned in the previous one: Module 1 - Let Driving Laws Be Your Guide
Module 2 - Factors That Influence Teen Crashes
Module 3 - Techniques For Talking To Your Teen Driver
Module 4 - Encourage Safe Driving Decisions
Module 5 - Navigate The First Years Of Driving
For more detailed information on topics covered in the individual modules, download the Reference Guide. Looking for teen-focused materials? View and download them here. |
